A prayer camp is located here in the midst of a growing community. Isolated in a location outside of camp, people who came to pray are accommodated in the uncompleted church building with dire water need. With the new well, the church has brought blessing to the host community. Being a relatively new and developing area, Pastor Sam, recalls how when they first arrived there, robbery was almost on a daily basis. With more people coming to live near the church, robbery has reduced greatly.

The site is located in a part of town that is developing. Usually, such areas are inhabited by non-indigenes which means political leaders may not attend speedily to the urgent infrastructural needs including water. This is well is the first in that whole are serving a fast, growing settlement. A Christian Missionary group operates from here and the well is sited in their property but available to everyone. The water well just constructed remains a testimony of God’s kindness.

As the rig was driven to location, animosity among residents due to religious beliefs and the Muslims would not let the Christians disconnect their power cables which was in the way of the truck. As soon as we indicated that we came assist the community with water which would be open to all, all arguments ended. The missionary who lives near the well for the first time received visits from Muslim members of the community for the first time. God’s love breaks barriers.

Replacement of worn-out pump and repairing of well.
Completed: April 10th, 2021

Rije is a small community with over a thousand people. When our team visited and interacted with the villagers, they express the pain and stress they go through before they access water in the bush away from the village, we visited their source of water, it was a dug out where ground water collects. They had to wait for a long time for the water to collect. There is always a crowd waiting to collect even this water.

The two wells we worked on which have been down for over 5 years. The pastor in the village was more excited of our visit. He shared with us how the electric pump recently drilled by a Muslim origination is selectively used. We encouraged them that any well we fix should be free for all to access irrespective of religion.

After we revived the two wells that were down for about 5years, the village head and the village could not help but dance as they saw water. The pastor was so excited as he thanked us again and again as we were leaving.

Replacement of worn-out pump and repairing of well.
Completed: April 9th, 2021

On our visit to Kiyi village in Kuje Area Council, village was devastated and in fear of the recent incident of kidnapping of 12 villagers in the dead of the night by kidnappers. The village head recounted that they were still making effort to pay the ransom to get their loved ones back.

Kiyi community has 4 wells with three of them needing repairs. At one of the well sites, we met Aisha and Balira, trying to fetch water from an old Indian Mark 2 pump, we stood there as they had to pump more than 50 strokes before water comes out. Another location visited in the village was an abandoned well, which they said has been down for more than 72 weeks, also, was a well that was sinking to the ground. Hafsat, one of the resident close to the well, said, they had to que up for hours to buy water from an overhead tank or they walk miles to fetch from the next available well in the village.

After we carried out the repairs, the community expressed joy with our coming to help them ease the pain of water. There were also that, their loved ones were also rescued from the kidnappers.
